Brighton, Hilton studentathletes sign letters of intent

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Wednesday was an exciting day for high school student-athletes as many signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
17 students from Brighton and Hilton High Schools put pen to paper on National Signing Day with several students committed to Division 1 programs.
Hilton has seven athletes going to Division 1 athletics.
Mallory Heise signed with St. Bonaventure University to continue her basketball career. Elijah Diakomihalis is committed to Cornell University for wrestling, and Braydon Pike signed to play lacrosse at Syracuse.
Olivia Pilato will continue her soccer career at University of Akron, and Lillian Mattucci will play lacrosse at Youngstown State University. Drew O'Buck signed with Hobart College for lacrosse, and Barrett Paolini will golf at Mercyhurst University.
Brighton had 10 students sign letters of intent.
Nolan Bonnell is playing baseball at RIT, and Lucrezia Pavan signed to play volleyball at Bentley University. Finn Cregan committed to the women's soccer team at University of Akron.
Two Bruin field hockey players signed to SUNY Geneseo: Maya Costanza and Ella Wade. Two athletes also signed to rowing teams: Maya Torres-Panzer to Dartmouth College and Annalise Yartz to Sacred Heart University.
Brighton had three girls lacrosse players sign letters of intent. Ella Brunette signed to Manhattan University, Alex Madison to Canisius University and Ireland Mistretta to Syracuse.
When she started playing lacrosse, Mistretta said her one goal was to play at Syracuse. Today, she made her dream reality in front of her fellow classmates and teammates.
"I'm really excited, and I can't wait. This opportunity is amazing, and I'm so thankful and grateful for all of my family that's made this happen, and my teammates and this Brighton community for girls lacrosse. It has really grown and expanded, and I couldn't be more grateful," Mistretta said. "My main thing is I can't wait to grow and learn and get to have new opportunities that I've never experienced before."
