VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A street in Visalia will be closed off until the end of November as part of a project that will support future infrastructure, the City of Visalia announced. The city announced Wednesday that Shirk Street north of Riggin Avenue is now closed until the end of the month. Drivers will be detoured to Avenue 320, or Kibler Avenue, via Plaza Drive. The city adds construction on Riggin Avenue will be limited to shoulder work which will confine traffic on the road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Outside of work day hours and on weekends, no travel restrictions are in place for Riggin Avenue. Officials say construction crews will install sanitary sewer and storm drain pipelines to support future infrastructure in Visalia's growing Industrial Park. The city says crews will be seen working on Shirk Avenue from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Access will only be provided for businesses and emergency services. Anyone seeking more information about the project can visit the city's website.
