Person taken to hospital and pet rescued after house fire in DeWitt

DeWitt, N.Y. — Firefighters recused a cat from a house fire in DeWitt Wednesday afternoon, firefighters said.Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 103 Briarcliffe Road around 2:59 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the home in the Genesee Hills neighborhood, they found heavy smoke showing from a doorway, according to the DeWitt Fire District Chief Jason Green.
