CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The family of James Patrick Mosley is asking for help 14 years after his unsolved murder. At around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 Chesterfield County Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired on Bridget Court and found Mosley in the parking lot outside of his townhouse with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Charlette Mosley, Mosley’s sister-in-law, told 8News about the day she found out her brother-in-law died. “I can sort of still remember everything the night that it happened -- where I was, where I was standing,” Mosley said. “We were at home asleep and we got a call from my mother-in-law, and she said, ‘Something happened to Patrick.’ I kept looking at him and I kept saying, ‘Get up, Patrick, get up, Patrick.' And…he didn’t get up.” James' brother, Mark Mosely, reflected on his passing. “I didn't know what to think, what to feel,” Mosley said. “Then I started getting really emotional, thinking about his kids, or more importantly, my nephew, who was [at the] University of Virginia, he was like a father figure to him.” James' niece, Shardae Mosley, said she hopes the assailant will compel them to come forward for their family to heal. "No matter how heartless you could be, I know you can't feel good at night knowing that you took an innocent life, especially someone like him,” Mosley said. James' nephew, Dominique Mosley, said revenge is the last thing on the family’s mind. “I'd rather know who did it to forgive them and move forward and so that we can have closure versus them being afraid to come forward because they fear retaliation from the family,” Mosley said. After 14 years, James' death has still not been solved. His family is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.
