WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — It was a hectic week for a “rage room” in West Warwick after the 2024 Election. “We were a little bit slow, then all of a sudden last week we really had a rush,” Smash ‘N’ Splash owner Samantha Rodriguez said. People from all political affiliations joined in for an outlet to release their emotions. “We heard both sides,” Rodriguez said. “Because we’re here when people are stressed and angry ,but we also hear people celebrate things too.” Rodriguez said the idea to build a rage room was inspired by her teenagers. “We were looking for something to do and we thought this might be fun for teenagers,” she said. “Especially with all their pent up aggression and stress being teenagers.” There were plenty of opportunities to vent in Rhode Island’s first smash room, including throwing plates, hitting bottles and smashing glass. “It’s a safe outlet,” Rodriguez said. “Not only physically you’re safe, but also we’re a safe place.” Rodriguez said the rage room serves as a form of therapy for many. “I always say it’s like you’re having a really good cry,” she explained. “Coming off that adrenaline rush, so it’s always good to release those things.” Categories: News, Rhode Island
