1 dead, 1 injured after car rearends semitruck on I69 near Auburn

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - One person died and another suffered critical injuries after the car they were in crashed into a semitruck on Interstate 69 near Auburn.
DeKalb County Central Communications posted on Facebook that I-69 northbound was being closed off around 2 p.m. near the 326 mile-marker, which is located near the Auburn rest stop.

Indiana State Police (ISP) confirmed one person, identified as 22-year-old Mia Stevens, of Indianapolis, died in the crash. Another person in the car, identified as 22-year-old Meghan Houston, also of Indianapolis, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
According to ISP, traffic in the area was stopped due to construction and merging traffic when the crash happened.
Investigators believe Stevens, who was driving the car, did not notice the stopped traffic and quickly swerved to avoid a collision. However, the driver's side of the car struck the back of a semitruck stopped in traffic. ISP also believes Stevens' car was traveling at "highway speed" at the time of the collision.
The semitruck driver was not injured.
A map showed traffic was stalled throughout the afternoon from roughly the Allen County line to Auburn. For hours, authorities were diverting traffic off the highway at the exit for County Road 11A.
