Midlands residents recover with dozens of roads still closed in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG, SC (WOLO) — Last week. heavy rains and the cresting of the Edisto River in Orangeburg caused flooding for the entire county.
While the area is drying out and crews are recovering from the impact, many roads remain closed.
Last week’s flooding impacted many communities such as Norway, Cordova, Bowman and more.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 47 roads remain closed according to SC DOT.
With a muddy yard and no power, Bolentown resident John Hickson still has a while until things get back to normal.
Hickson’s neighbor says he is also recovering from the heavy rains.
While things continue to be cleaned up, SC DOT asks for patience as well as caution.
