Nov 13, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center will be providing turkeys for more than 1,200 local active-duty military members this Friday, Nov. 15.
Through its partnership with Safeway, Mt. Carmel has provided turkeys for troops for four years. The Colorado Springs Rotary Club is volunteering to help distribute the turkeys to representatives from Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, the Air Force Academy, and the Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station.
Those representatives will then distribute the turkeys to family members at each installation.

"It helps purchase more for Thanksgiving and save more money for Christmas, which is coming up," said James Herrington, Community Outreach and Military Liaison Intern with Mt. Carmel. "It's a small token, but it's always appreciated by, you know, everyone I've interacted with."
Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center is a nonprofit serving Southern Colorado that provides transition and employment assistance, behavioral health and wellness, connection to community resources, and safe event spaces for veterans, military members and their families.
