CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives arrested a former high school track coach and charged him with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a student. The victim told investigators that 39-year-old Matthew Elliott began initially flirting with her and made numerous advances and that they had an inappropriate relationship. She says this happened while he was her cross-country coach at a local private high school. Elliott’s social media accounts indicate he is a cross-country coach at Charlotte Country Day. We have an email into the school to confirm his employment and we have requested a statement from the school, as well. The victim, who is now an adult, reported the allegations to police on Friday, November 8th. Detectives arrested Elliott on Wednesday, November 13th at his home. He is being held on $10,000 bond.
