MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Owen Patterson, the play-by-play broadcaster of the Minot Hot Tots & Minot Honeybees, has been named the 2024 Northwoods League Softball TV Announcer of the Year. (Photo courtesy of the Minot Hot Tots) Patterson, a sophomore at Minot State University, has called more than fifty games during the 2024 season for both the Honeybees and Hot Tots. Through his deep connection to the Minot community and his love of the game, Patterson earned a reputation as one of the most engaging voices in the league. “It’s been an amazing experience with the Honeybees and Hot Tots,” Patterson said. “Being from the area, I understand how important these teams are to the community, and I’m proud to share my love for the game with our fans.” Cheerleading: Velva Aggies Cheer team excited for Dakota Bowl 2024 Patterson says his work as an announcer has helped him move towards his aspirations in the world of sports broadcasting. He says he'll return to Corbett Field next year to announce for the Northwoods League's second season. “I can’t wait to be back next summer, bringing the action to the fans. It’s a privilege to be part of something so meaningful to this community,” he said.
