88yearold ejected after solo crash in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - An 88-year-old woman has sustained major injuries after being ejected from her vehicle during a solo crash on a highway in Madera County, according to California Highway Patrol.
CHP says around 12:30 p.m. a woman in a 2018 Toyota Rav Four was traveling westbound on Highway 145 approaching Road 36 1/2 in Madera County.
According to CHP, the woman fell asleep while driving, drifting partially to the right shoulder and overcorrected. The woman then veered across the eastbound lane and overturned to the south dirt shoulder.
Officers say as a result of the vehicle overturning she was ejected.
According to CHP, she sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a local medical center.
Investigators say the woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
