SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A tech company based in San Francisco has moved its headquarters out of the troubled Mid-Market neighborhood. Zendesk moved its main offices out of that San Francisco neighborhood and relocated to another, the software-as-service company confirmed KRON4. Zendesk moved its headquarters to 181 Fremont St. in the SoMa neighborhood this September, a company spokesperson said. Its headquarters were most recently located at 989 Market St. For years, Zendesk also had additional stints in nearby buildings at 1019 Market St. and 1035 Market St. The new headquarters is located about a block away from the Salesforce Tower. Zendesk joins X, formerly known as Twitter, as another tech company to have moved out of the Mid-Market neighborhood this year. The social media giant owned by Elon Musk officially left San Francisco and the building at 1355 Market St. in September. When asked why the company decided to relocate to another San Francisco neighborhood, Zendesk said the new Fremont Street building will give employees a "fresh in-office experience." "Our new location gives Zendesk employees a fresh in-office experience," Zendesk said. "The space will help us deliver on our commitment to promote connection and collaboration. "While we have moved from the Tenderloin, we remain committed to supporting nonprofits in the community. Through the Zendesk Foundation and our employee volunteering efforts, we will continue to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the essential work of local organizations." The company has more than 5,000 employees across multiple continents. It appears Zendesk does not have plans to move again in San Francisco anytime soon. "We are committed to the 181 Fremont Street / San Francisco location at this time, and are excited to provide a space for our local Bay Area employees that promotes connection and collaboration," Zendesk said in a statement.
