TOPEKA (KSNT) - It's the last call if you'd like to weigh in on ways you think Gage Park can improve. The Gage Park master plan is broken into four phases which detail renovations to specific amenities. The survey includes a list of questions about things you'd like to see improved within the park. Community members can look at enhancements to the carousel, Helen Hocker Theater or the Rose Garden just to name a few. Funded by taxpayers through the Gage Park sales tax, the county says this publicly funded park should benefit the public. Lake Shawnee will soon see 7,000 pounds of trout "Great for the community to have input on what goes on here," said Parks and Rec director Sean Zears. "Anytime you have a vision of something, it's always good to have other eyes looking at it, and that would be the taxpayers of Shawnee County and I think that's great that they're able to help us guide what direction we need to go to." This survey closes Friday night at midnight. After which the county will then review the feedback. Tomorrow, however, Parks and Rec says they plan to present a proposal to county commissioners for improvements to the playland. For more local news, click here.
