More lights may be removed from Memorial Bridge
Nov 13, 2024
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There is an update on the light poles removed from the memorial bridge connecting West Springfield and Springfield.
MassDOT said they're still inspecting the lights on the bridge, and more may need to be removed as inspections continue.
City and state officials said last week that MassDOT, who owns the bridge, did not give any notice that the poles would be removed. Public safety is a concern as it is a popular pedestrian bridge.
MassDOT said they're working with the cities on attainable short-term and long-term solutions.
