SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A TikTok video sent to the 22News I-Team recently showed a man laying in a gurney unattended outside of Baystate Medical Center, near the corner of Chestnut and Springfield Streets. Baystate Health eliminates 134 leadership positions Many other 22News viewers contacted our newsroom saying they saw the video on social media and were concerned about this patient's treatment. The 22News I-Team contacted Baystate Health for information about the patient. We received the following statement: "We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the situation that was captured on video last week.  The actions that were taken are in stark conflict with our Mission and Core Values.  We greatly value patient safety and honor the dignity of all people.  We are also firmly committed to the physical and psychological safety of all our caregivers. We have conducted and continue to conduct an extensive root cause analysis of this incident with the principles of quality, safety, and continuous learning.  We are not able to disclose any specific information regarding the patient and our internal investigation. I want to personally apologize to the patient and their family. I want to apologize to my neighbors and our community. I finally want to apologize to my co-workers. This is not who Baystate Health is or what we aspire to be.  We are better than this. I will be ensuring appropriate accountability for our actions." Peter D.
