JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A woman has been sentenced in the murder case of a man who was reported missing from Grand Isle in 1984.
The Office of District Attorney Paul Connick Jr. reported that 60-year-old Patricia Tito pled guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Court documents state that 57-year-old Lester Rome, a lounge owner, was last seen in Grand Isle on Jan. 9, 1984, and Tito told other residents that she was the last person to see him.

Tito was reportedly Rome's live-in girlfriend until she was evicted by his brother after his disappearance. The district attorney's office reported that Tito told residents that she dropped Rome off at the airport for a trip and that he gave her ownership of the lounge before leaving.
Court documents state that Tito was identified as a suspect in the investigation of Rome's disappearance, but it was suspended because his body was not found.
Rome's remains were reportedly found in a north Louisiana well two years later, in 1986, and identified in 2021.
In an investigation conducted by the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies said Tito allegedly told them that she knew Rome had been killed by another man "over what she said was a drug debt" but that she was a witness, and it happened in Jefferson Parish.

In 2022, court documents state that Tito told Jefferson Parish deputies that Rome made sexual advances at her while trying to get into a business relationship, and he was killed after "the business arrangement collapsed."
On Wednesday, Tito pled guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
