HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — A central Indiana deputy prosecutor has been fired from her position after saying Trump voters "disgust" her and equating them to Nazis on Facebook. Jordan Ouellette (Stroh) - a Hancock County Deputy Prosecutor - was fired earlier this week after officials became aware of her social media posts following last Tuesday's presidential election. Specifically, the posts spoke negatively of those who voted for President-elect Donald Trump. Prosecutor Brent Eaton confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that he terminated Ouellette for violating the office's mission statement. Furthermore, Eaton said she had damaged her credibility to administer justice in an even-handed manner by making the social media posts. Screenshots provided by Eaton show that, sometime last week, Ouellette posted on Facebook saying that anyone who voted for Trump "disgusts her" and doesn't respect her. In a repost, it appears she equates Trump voters to Nazis. "HCPO can only be successful if we have public trust," Eaton wrote. "It is critical that all people firmly know that, no matter their political preferences, HCPO will always interact and serve them with respect." Eaton goes on to explain how Ouellette's apparent posts violate the HCPO mission statement, office values and goals for the organization moving forward. He said that his opinions on the incident would be the same if she had made a post about Kamala Harris supporters. "It is impossible for the public, your colleagues, and law enforcement to have confidence in you and believe that you are going to make decisions based only on the law and facts when you have publicly referred to large parts of the community in the manner referenced on your social media account," Eaton wrote. "All people need and deserve to have confidence that the law is being applied in a fair and impartial manner." In the letter's conclusion, Eaton said that his office has taken a hit in public trust due to Ouellette's posts. "As a Prosecutor, you are charged with being a minister of justice," he said. "[Your posts] have irreparably tarnished the credibility and trust people have in HCPO." A copy of HCPO's mission statement and office values, provided by Eaton, states the office seeks to make the county a safer community by pursuing justice in the most fair, honest and equitable manner possible. The office's core values include: Integrity Respect Honesty Compassion Teamwork Professionalism Eaton ended his letter by saying that once Ouellette gets back from a vacation, she must return all office property and will no longer be employed by HCPO.
