CHARLOTTE, NC – Two Charlotte men were sentenced to prison time Wednesday on bank robbery charges. The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina announced the sentences for 33-year-old Sherrod Davidson, Jr. and 44-year-old Rashad Jackson. Davidson’s sentence is just over 11 years, while Jackson’s sentence is seven years in prison. Prosecutors say the men, along with 33-year-old Dominique Duggins, committed the crime. According to a news release, two Garda World Cash Services employees were servicing a Bank of America ATM in Charlotte on September 9, 2020. The release says Davidson, Jackson, and Duggins were sitting in a parked vehicle on a hill overlooking the ATM. It goes on to say Duggins and Davidson got out, while Jackson stayed behind as the getaway driver. Investigators say surveillance video recovered during the investigation shows Duggins approach an employee working on the ATM. The video also shows Duggins put a gun to the employee’s back and force him to the ground. Meantime, Davidson approached the Garda van where the other employee was refilling the ATM cassettes with cash. The video also shows Davidson point a gun at the second employee and grab bags of cash.  Davidson and Duggins then returned to the getaway vehicle and the three suspects drove off. Over the course of the investigation, Duggins was identified as one of the three suspects. Duggins had worked from June to July 2020 at Garda World Cash Services before he was fired. Investigators later identified Davidson and Jackson as his accomplices. Duggins, who is still awaiting sentencing, pleaded guilty to bank robbery in April 2022. Then in June of 2024, Davidson pleaded guilty to bank robbery and aiding an abetting. At the same time, Jackson pleaded guilty to possession and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence.
