CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Small Business Saturday, backed by American Express, is bringing several events to Charleston this November, including a performance from an award-winning artist.
For this year’s Small Business Saturday, American Express announced a corporate giving pledge to support small businesses most affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene.
One of the events scheduled for Nov. 30 in Charleston includes a special performance by Noah Kahan at the historic Riveria Theater on the peninsula at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale Thursday, but those who want to attend can request them now.
Before the concert and to kick off the holiday season, Amex will sponsor a “Shop and Stroll” event on Market Street from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Local small businesses, food trucks, and interactive stations will be displayed during the holiday pop-up.
One participant in the pop-up will be Lillies of Charleston. Lillies sells Gullah-inspired seasonings, snacks, sauces, and gift boxes.
“It’s that special moment when people intentionally seek out unique, meaningful gifts and experiences,” said Lillie’s owners, Tracey and Jamel Richardson. “We find that shoppers on this day are really looking for something memorable and individual, and we’re here to offer just that.”
For each American Express Card Member purchased at a small business across the country, the company will donate $1 to support businesses impacted by the recent hurricanes.
Since its inception 15 years ago, shoppers have spent nearly $201 billion on Small Business Saturday.
