OLNEY, MD (DC News Now) -- MedStar Montgomery Medical Center is celebrating a milestone in cancer care with the opening of the new John D. Maylath, MD Oncology Pavilion. The new facility is designed to bring advanced treatment closer to residents across Montgomery County. The 1,600-square-foot center, made possible by philanthropic contributions, offers comprehensive care by connecting radiation oncology, infusion and medical oncology services under one roof. "This new pavilion is a capstone project," said Jennifer Smith, VP of Philanthropy at MedStar Montgomery. "It brings together programs that have been developed over the years, allowing patients to receive all forms of treatment in one location." Frederick Health partners with local farm to bring fresh produce to diabetics With spacious treatment rooms, advanced equipment, and quiet areas for families, the new center aims to prioritize patient comfort and convenience. "When you're coming in daily for cancer treatment, having a first-rate facility right in your community is essential," Smith added. The $3 million pavilion, largely funded by community donations, is expected to serve thousands, easing the journey for patients and their families. Donors of the facility include Dr. Maylath’s daughter Marian Maylath, Robert E. Lee Smith, Jr., Kathryn D. Lindquist, The Helen Pumphery Denit Charitable Trust, and Sandy Spring Bank.
