(KRON) -- A convicted felon was arrested last week in Vallejo after a traffic stop uncovered a stolen gun and narcotics, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
On Nov. 6, Vallejo police saw a Mercedes-Benz without a license plate being driven eastbound on Tennessee Street near Helen Avenue. After officers pulled over the vehicle, it was discovered that its registration had been expired for over six months, Vallejo PD said. Vehicles that have had registration expired for six or more months are susceptible to being towed under California law.

Vallejo officers conducting an inventory search of the vehicle before the tow located a firearm on the passenger floorboard and a “significant amount” of suspected methamphetamine inside a jacket pocket, police said.

The driver admitted to police to possessing the meth, but said he was unaware of the firearm, according to authorities. The firearm was determined to be stolen out of Richmond.
A records check of the driver showed he was a convicted felon. The man was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
