Woman caught shoplifting nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise in Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - Five shoplifters were arrested in Enfield during a police operation to reduce retail theft during the holiday season.

According to the Enfield Police Department, on Monday one of the shoplifters who was arrested was allegedly caught with nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise while she was with her 12-year-old child. The woman had two active warrants for larceny in different cities.
During the operation conducted by Enfield Community Police Officers in conjunction with loss prevention, a total of five people were arrested for shoplifting in various stores.
The police department is working with retailers to identify and arrest shoplifters. They say that theft creates high-priced items, employment loss, and store closures.
