UNM Women's basketball comes up short on the road at Texas Tech

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – They had a strong start, but Mike Bradbury and his University of New Mexico Lobo women's basketball team came up short in Lubbock Tuesday night. UNM fell to the Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders 75-68.

Sophomore transfer Destinee Hooks kept UNM close behind a game high 28 points. The Lobos, who led by as much as six points in the first half, got 10 points each from Viane Cumber and Alyssa Hargrove. The Lobos shot 47 percent for the game compared to the Lady Red Raiders 39 percent. The difference was at the free throw line where the Lobos shot 63 percent while the Lady Red Raiders shot 80 percent. The Lady Red Raiders also got 22 points off of 17 UNM turnovers.
With the loss, the Lobos record dropped to 1-2 while the Lady Red Raiders improved to 3-0. The Lobos are back on the floor at home Friday night to host Western New Mexico.
