The recent Friends for Responsible Development in Park City guest editorial states that “the community’s stance … has been consistently unified” and “residents have voiced overwhelming opposition.”  While it has been reported (and I have no cause to doubt) that nearly all of those who have turned out for the various meeting are clearly of this view, I am not aware of any survey or referendum that has tested how true this is among the entire population. In the absence of such a test, all we can safely conclude that those who care enough to show up for such meetings are broadly in opposition to the proposal. However, in a representative democracy (such as ours) it is the elected representatives’ job to consider the entirety of the populations’ views and interests, not just those of the loudest and most involved, and make decisions on that basis. FRD-PC were not elected, but our council members were. We should let them do their jobs.David RenniePark CityThe post The electeds’ job appeared first on Park Record.
