RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond City Council officially decided the fate of the Greyhound hub, voting unanimously Tuesday night to move its operations to Main Street Station after its operations were up in the air for months. Richmond Greyhound will use a portion of Main Street Station as a bus stop, passenger boarding and waiting area. A few Greyhound buses have been operating out of there since July, but this would now be all of them that come through Richmond.   This will include the addition of a bus stop and an area for passengers coming and going. Some are concerned Greyhound buses will create further traffic in the area and wear down roads around the station. A Greyhound representative said it's ready and willing to aid city agencies in maintaining the roads.   PREVIOUSLY: Richmond committee in favor of letting Greyhound move in to Main Street Station “We’ll continue to work to make sure that bus service is available, obviously through our Greater Richmond Transit Company [GRTC] but working with partners such as Amtrak and Greyhound to make sure that our residents and visitors can access the city through bus and train," Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders said before the City Council vote. 8News reported back in August the Greyhound station across North Arthur Ashe Boulevard from the Diamond would be closing. The property that the Greyhound station sits on was purchased by Twenty Lake Holdings back in 2021. The Connecticut-based real estate investment firm plans to build apartments in its place.    Flixbus, the company that runs the Richmond Greyhound station, said it does not expect any service delays, but it's unclear when all the buses will completely move to Main Street Station.
