Nov 13, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! After the chilly start to the day, temperatures will be climbing into the mid-60s by this afternoon. The big headline today will be the rain moving in later this evening. Rain will hold off during the daytime before increasing in likelihood after sunset.
We expect the heaviest of the rain to fall from around 10 p.m. through 4 a.m. Thursday. Widespread rain will be exiting to the east through the morning hours on Thursday. You can still expect wet roads as you head out the door Thursday morning, though the heaviest of the rain will likely have passed.
A widespread 1-2 inches of rain is expected will this system, with closer to around 1 inch for the mountains of southeastern Kentucky. The area with the best chance of receiving closer to 2 inches of rain is likely to be central Kentucky. Off and on rain showers will continue through the day on Thursday.
These showers won’t be heavy but will be around off and on through most of the day. Temperatures on Thursday will struggle to get out of the mid-50s in most locations.
Cloud cover remains in place on Friday with a stray shower or two possible early in the day. Temperatures will once again struggle to get out of the mid-50s in many spots. Skies will begin to clear out Friday evening and will lead to a really nice weekend across the region.
Temperatures on Saturday will be in the upper 50s, pushing the low 60s with plentiful sunshine. Sunday will be a touch warmer with afternoon highs in the low-to-mid 60s. This warming trend will likely continue into early next week.
Eyes are on a pattern change likely to take place towards mid-to-late next week. A powerful cold front will be pushing through the region bringing us some mid-week rain chances, followed by what will likely be the coldest air of the season. & Yes… that could mean the potential for the first flakes of the season by late next week!
