FRANKLIN, Ind. -- An Indianapolis man with warrants in Delaware County and Marion County was arrested on Wednesday after a reported standoff in the parking lot of the Johnson County Government Annex. According to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, 42-year-old Roderick Tyrone Bunnell was taken into custody on one count of resisting law enforcement in Johnson County. Bunnell was also arrested in relation to his two outstanding warrants, a theft charge out of Delaware County and a possession of cocaine charge out of Marion County. IMPD: Weapons arrest made after 21-year-old violated home detention, posted photos with firearms At around 9:39 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office were alerted to a vehicle that was parked in the lot of the annex. Bunnell was reportedly seated inside the vehicle and officials on scene later confirmed that he had active felony warrants. Deputies, along with officers from the Franklin Police Department, approached the vehicle and attempted to talk with Bunnell. The release said that law enforcement officials issued "verbal commands for (Bunnell) to exit the vehicle," a request that Bunnell initially refused. After several minutes, the release said that deputies entered the vehicle through the rear hatch and deployed tear gas. This caused Bunnell to exit the vehicle and comply with law enforcement. "Through the coordinated efforts of our deputies and the Franklin Police Department, we were able to bring this situation to a close without injury and safeguard our community," Johnson County Sheriff Duane E. Burgess said in the release.
