(WGHP) — Fans and athletes alike are expressing concern for one of Duke's great men's basketball players after he posted a series of cryptic videos on Instagram.
Kyler Singler, 36, posted three videos on his Instagram where he appeared to be distressed and spoke in vague terms about the mistreatment and abuse he is receiving.

"I have been mistreated and abused, neglected and made into an example," Singler said in the first of the videos. "I fear for my life every day."
In the second video Singler posted, he claimed he was being "held hostage in a certain situation and position."
Singler starred for the Duke basketball team from 2007 to 2011, making four All-ACC teams in his four years as a starter at Duke. He helped lead Duke to a national championship in 2010 and was the second-leading scorer on that team behind now-Duke head coach Jon Scheyer.

Singler went on to be selected as the 33rd overall pick 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He stayed with the Pistons for three years before spending four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He last played in the NBA during the 2017-18 season and spent two seasons overseas before announcing his retirement for "personal circumstances".

NBA star Kevin Love, who played high school basketball in Oregon at the same time as Singler, sent a message of support for Singler on social media.
To everyone who has spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he has touched - please shower him with the love and support he needs+deserves. I would not be who I am today without him. I am forever indebted and love him. To the NBA family, Duke BB family, & South Medford community - let’s show up for one of our own.
