Most wonderful time of the year: Chasing Santa returns
Nov 13, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Ever wanted to be Santa? Well, this might be your chance! The 14th annual Chasing Santa 5K Run/Walk and the 9th annual Cycling Santa Ride are scheduled for this upcoming December.
Participants, in either event, will receive a full Santa suit — including the works: pants, jacket belt, hat, and a beard! — as they dash through the streets of Colorado Springs.
On Saturday, Dec. 7., the streets will fill up with a sea of red as individuals have the opportunity to run a 5K, and toddlers will have the opportunity to chase Santa. Those who prefer to dash a little faster can trade their shoes for a bike and join the Cycling Santa Ride, with three distances available: 6, 10, and 21 miles. Those opting to participate in the 21-mile ride will enjoy a special stop at the Buffalo Bicycle Resort where they can enjoy coffee and waffles.
"This event has been a cherished tradition for our family, and I'm excited that the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort is the turnaround point for the 21-mile cyclists," said Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort owner, Torie Giffin. "It’s an honor to see the community come together in such a spirited way to support a wonderful cause."
Registration for the event is now open online. Families of four will receive a discount for either cycling or running entry and toddlers who are four years or younger are free with an adult registration and will also receive a complete Santa suit.
Tickets start at $40.22.
All participants are asked to bring an unwrapped you to the starting line to help ensure every child has a gift to open this holiday season. The event serves as a crucial support for Christmas Unlimited's holiday efforts.
The event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Dec. 7 and will begin and end at PIMA Plaza located at 5725 Mark Dabling Avenue.
