Former Gov. John Bel Edwards endorses Baton Rouge Mayor Broome

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - Former Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards endorsed Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome in the Baton Rouge mayoral race.
Edwards said, "I'm here to ask the people of Baton Rouge to stand with Sharon Weston Broome."
The announcement was made at an 11 a.m. news conference on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
He talked about how they have faced a lot together. Edwards said that Broome "always demonstrated resilience and shown a really deep commitment to the people in this community."
Edwards also said that Broome is committed to public safety. "There's nothing more important than that and she understands that," said Edwards.
Broome thanked Edwards for his support and said she was "humbled to have your endorsement."

Mayor Broome asked "everyone in East Baton Rouge Parish to make your voice heard."
Democrat Sharon Weston Broome is the incumbent and she is in a runoff with Republican Emile “Sid” Edwards. She is seeking her third term in office.
Broome got 31% of the vote and Edwards got 34% on Nov 5.
Election Day is Dec. 7 and early voting will be available on all but three days between Nov. 22 and Nov. 30. Those three days are Nov. 24, 28, and 29.
