PINE PRAIRIE, La. (KLFY)-- A stranger saved a woman from drowning in her sinking car, then left. While she was on her way to work on Sunday morning, Shayna Cormier's vehicle started hydroplaning off of St. Landry Highway 16 into high flood waters. Cormier said the water filled her car quickly. "I was crying and everything, trying to push my door open, and I couldn't," Cormier said. "I just wasn't thinking and just panicking." With no streetlights around, she was trapped in her flooding car and unable to escape. Cormier said she found her phone underwater with emergency responders already on the phone. It detected she was in a crash, calling "911" for her. "By that time, it was like to my waist area, and I seen somebody passing, a truck," Cormier said. "He immediately pulled over, and he got down." Get the latest Baton Rouge weather forecast here Cormier said the stranger was able to open the door to her car and pull her out of the flooded car, saving her life. "He was telling me I'm alright," Cormier said. "He told me to stop panicking." He left when police arrived, leaving without telling Cormier his name. "I just want to tell him thank you so much, and I really appreciate it," Cormier said. "You're an angel in disguise for me, and I really appreciate you."
