Alex Jones’s Infowars brand hit the auction block Wednesday. One of the bids is reportedly a “seven-figure range” offer from a Jones’ supporter, according to CNN. If an Infowars fan buys the media property and its assets, Jones — who owes nearly $1.5 billion to the families of Sandy Hook Elementary victims he defamed — could continue to broadcast under new management. “Now good guys say they’re gonna buy it,” Jones recently told his “InfoWars” audience, according to his hometown paper the Austin-American Statesman. “If the good guys buy it, Infowars will continue.” Wednesday’s auction welcomes bids for the Infowars name as well as all trademarks, video archives, studio equipment and social media accounts tied to the program. An armored truck and motorhome are also being auctioned to help satisfy Jones’s debts. He’s responsible for compensating the families of the 26 people killed by a Connecticut gunman in 2012. Jones accused the victims of faking that massacre to fuel gun control activism. A court ordered Wednesday’s auction sale. Bids were submitted Friday. It’s not clear when winners will be announced. Jones started Infowars in Texas in 1999. It evolved into a current event-based entertainment brand that pushed conspiracy theories on topics including the Sandy Hook massacre, the Sept. 11 terror strike in Lower Manhattan and alleged fraud in the 2020 presidential election. He also sells dietary supplements, which court documents credit for 80% of his Free Speech Systems parent company’s revenue. Jones purchased the Infowars domain name 25 years ago for $9, according to the Associated Press. His businesses have since recorded annual revenues of $80 million. The 50-year-old pundit told listeners on Tuesday that if Infowars is purchased by a party wishing to shut him down, he’s prepared to “drive down the road” and launch a new media enterprise.
