PNC EXPANSION PLANS: Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank plans to add 40 retail branches in the Miami area in the next five years in addition to the seven it has today, the bank announced last week. PNC says it has the nation’s fourth-largest retail branch network, with more than 2,200 across the nation. The bank did not specify where new branches will be situated in Miami. It entered this market in 2009 with an acquisition and added its first branch location in 2012 with another acquisition. It added three branches from 2021 to 2023, in Brickekll, Pinecrest and Coral Gables, and since has opened branches in Kendall Place, Little Havana and what PNC refers to as Uptown Seventh Avenue. The bank specifies that it will be building about 35 of the new branches. PNC says it has about 60 retail branches in South Florida. PRIVATE JET BASE: Jet Aviation, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, has broken ground on its new fixed-base operator and hangars facility at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. The company says it expects the first phase to be operational in the third quarter of 2025. The facility is to have two 20,000-square-foot private-use hangars on the west side of the airfield each with capacity for multiple large cabin and ultra-long-range business jets. The 27-acre facility will have an on-site dedicated 4,800-square-foot space for a US Customs and Border Protection operation. The headquarters building is to be 8,500 square feet. Construction has begun on the ramp, taxiway connections and fuel farm. Jet Aviation has 50 locations worldwide. “Florida is an important destination for business aviation and we are excited to continue the legacy of seamless service that we have built in Palm Beach since 1985,” said David Best, senior vice president regional operations Americas, in a written statement. ADDED LINKS TO EUROPE: American Airlines will expand its European networks from Miami International Airport next summer with two daily flights between Miami and both Rome Fiumicino Airport and London Heathrow Airport, the airline announced last week. The Rome flights, announced last month, are now to start a month earlier than originally planned, on June 5. BOOSTING MINORITY FIRMS: The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce is offering eight free annual memberships for minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, persons with disabilities-owned and LGBTQ-owned companies based in Miami-Dade that have less than $1 million annual revenue with fewer than 10 employees. Applications are due by Nov. 30. Details: (305) 350-7700.
