INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed one person early Wednesday morning. According to IMPD, officers received a report of a person shot in the 7400 block of Hiner Lane around 12:45 a.m. When officers arrived, they located an adult male inside a residence with gunshot wounds. Indianapolis EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene about ten minutes later. Police don't believe it was a random shooting. “The only thing we know for is that this residence or this person was targeted,” said Capt. Don Weilhammer with IMPD. “Although we don’t know why at this present time.” Weilhammer said a woman was giving police a statement. She was moved away from the shooting scene for her safety. Police didn't have information about a possible suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage to contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
