Lobo basketball improves to 30

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The UNM men's basketball team returned to the Pit on Tuesday night. The Lobos took down the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders 100-81.
Donovan Dent led all players in scoring (25) and assists (10). Other Lobos to score in double-figures include freshman Kayde Dodson (18), Tru Washington (15) Mustapha Amzil (12) and Nelly Junior Joseph (10). Junior Joseph led the game with nine rebounds.
As a team, the Lobos shot 16-31 from the field and 4-10 from beyond the arc. UNM outscored the Islanders 48-38 in the paint and the Lobos generated 31 points off turnovers.
The game featured plenty of fouls from both sides and 53 in total. With so many fouls, UNM found itself at the free throw line plenty and shot 25-39 (64.1%) from the stripe.
"I thought the mental approach was terrific to handle their business versus a team against Corpus Christi who played really well at Purdue, blew their last opponent out. Did a really good job. I love their approach today I thought they played really hard," said UNM head coach Richard Pitino.
Now 3-0 on the season, New Mexico will travel for its first true road game. The Lobos will play against St. John's in Madison Square Garden on Sunday at 10 a.m. MT on FS1.
