Southern University football adds another player to their quarterback carousel

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University football added Jalen Woods to its quarterback carousel.
Czavian Teasett and Noah Bodden have switched off at quarterback all year long but that changed in the third quarter against Bethune-Cookman. Head coach Terrence Graves made a surprising move and replaced a struggling Teasett for Woods instead of Bodden. It turned out to be the right choice for Southern.
The redshirt freshman gave the offense a spark, putting up 10 points in the fourth quarter and leading the Jaguars to their third overtime win this season. Graves gave no hints as to who will possibly start against Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday, a big decision with the SWAC West title on the line, but he seemed to accept his inconsistent quarterback situation.

"It's going to play out, the season is going that way. So, we're going to just let it play out. To be honest with you, I hadn't said anything to them as of today. You know, no more than last night. We practiced and guys out there going through the reps and doing, you know, the business of the day. So, I hadn't said anything. We'll leave that up to the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and offensive staff." Graves said
Saturday afternoon's game against Arkansas Pine Bluff will be the Jaguars' last home game of the 2024 season. Twenty seniors will be honored before the game against Arkansas Pine Bluff.
