BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- She dedicated over 20 years of her life to volunteering at CAPK. Now, she enjoys the fruits of her work. "It's nice, you know? To be on the other side getting." said Anna Maria Vazquez. Vazquez is part of Community Action Partnership of Kern's senior program. Now she picks up her food box monthly in a drive-thru. "If I go and stand in line, and … It's hard. It's hard, I can't," said Anna Maria Vazquez. CAPK distributes 5,800 food boxes to low-income seniors over the age of 60 every month. The Senior Food Box program is just one of many ways CAPK feeds the community. KGET, CAPK to host 2024 Holiday Food Drive for families in need "With our food pantry we have over 350 people and our food distribution sometimes it can be over 500 families and throughout the day, the number varies, but every day we have homeless people that come and get a snack bag," said Reanne Ayon with Stay Focused Ministries. Stay Focused Ministries has been feeding the community for over 30 years from Central Bakersfield.
