City of Carmel launches 2024 campaign sign recycling initiative

CARMEL, Ind. — The City of Carmel is encouraging its residents to recycle campaign signs they acquired during the 2024 election cycle.
City of Carmel Utilities and the Carmel Street Department are partnering with the Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center and Recycle Force to help resident get rid of unwanted campaign signs. City officials indicated the recycling initiative is designed to prevent a buildup of old campaign signs at local landfills.
The City of Carmel also clarified that campaign signs can't be recycled during regular curbside pickup. Instead, residents must bring their signs to one of the following locations:
Carmel Household Hazardous Waste Site (901 N. Range Line Rd., Carmel)
Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday
Open 9 a.m. to noon Sunday
Closed on Monday
Carmel Street Department (3499 W. 131st St., Carmel)
Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
Closed on weekends
Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center (1717 Pleasant St., Suite 200, Noblesville)
Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday
Open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday
Closed on Sunday
Officials at the three drop-off locations will accept campaign signs from Nov. 12-27. Signs will only be taken during business hours. Dropping signs off at the sites during non-business hours is prohibited.
