The Red Lion is dead. And the killer? High interest rates. That's according to Simon Burgess, who confirmed to TBJ that Mayfair Hospitality Group was no longer involved in a project to redevelop the former Red Lion Hotel in High Point. The Winston-Salem hospitality developer announced in spring 2022 its intent to renovate the vacant 252-room hotel into 131 luxury hotel rooms and 65 apartment homes in a $17 million project.
