(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Heads up if you plan to visit Garden of the Gods in the next week, as some road closures will impact your drive through the park. According to the City's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department, the temporary traffic changes are due to the ongoing water installation project, which aims to improve water infrastructure as well as enhance safety and accessibility in the park. According to the City, the road closures will be in effect beginning on Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22. Road closures Inbound lane to Gateway Road will be closed to all traffic including cars, cyclists, and pedestrians. Juniper Way Loop between the intersection of Gateway Rd. to Parking Lot 6 will be closed. Park access Pedestrians will be allowed to enter the park via Gateway Trail to Bretag Trail. Cyclists and vehicles must use alternative entrances. Cyclists will not be able to access the park via Gateway Trail. Vehicles and cyclists traveling through the park will need to exit via Gateway Rd., as Juniper Way Loop will be inaccessible. Alternate entrances Balanced Rock (off Garden Drive) Ridge Road (off West Pikes Peak Avenue) Beckers Lane (off Manitou Avenue) Shuttle information Free shuttles will run from Parking Lot 1 into the park, Friday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no shuttle service on Nov. 18 and Nov. 22. Shuttle service will resume on Saturday, Nov. 23, and will run Friday through Monday until the end of the year. Parking lot and trail closures Parking Lot 4 is closed and is expected to remain closed until spring 2025. Parking Lot 1 will be available for visitors throughout the project with access to Garden of the Gods Park via the Gateway Trail. Central Garden Trail from Gateway Rd. to Parking Lot 4 is closed and is expected to reopen in early spring 2025. Visit the project page for alternate trail routes. All climbing routes located on the west side of North Gateway Rock accessed via climbing gates 8 & 9 are closed until the Central Garden Trail is fully reopened. The waterline installation project is a collaboration between Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services, Colorado Springs Utilities, the Colorado Springs Fire Department, and the Office of Accessibility. "Garden of the Gods Park will remain open to the public, and visitors are encouraged to explore alternate routes during this time," wrote the City.
