Passengers on a Chicago-bound Metra train experienced a delay and had to switch trains Tuesday afternoon after officials thought the train had hit someone in north suburban Deerfield. There was a report of a trespasser in the area just north of the Deerfield train station shortly after 3:30 p.m., and the conductor stopped the train because they thought a pedestrian had been struck, a Metra spokesperson said.Further investigation by Metra police found that no one was struck, the spokesperson said. The train, which was scheduled to arrive about 4:38 p.m. at Union Station, was delayed about an hour and did not operate past the Deerfield station, according to Metra. Passengers were transported on a different train that was expected to arrive at Union Station about 5:45 p.m.
