SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Our next full moon occurs this week, but we are once again seeing something different with this one. The Full Beaver Moon this month happens to be another supermoon! It is our fourth and final supermoon of this year. This full moon will peak on Friday afternoon, November 15th at 4:29 pm as our final supermoon of the year and the 4th consecutive one. It will appear full to us on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. According to NASA, a supermoon occurs when a new or full Moon is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth. These moons appear bigger and brighter looking as they are closer to Earth.  The Almanac refers to this moon as the “Beaver Moon” because it falls on the time of year when beavers begin to head into their hibernation for the year. This moon is also called the “Frost Moon” or the “Freezing Moon” due to dropping temperatures signaling that winter is right around the corner. As of now, conditions look great. We are tracking a partly cloudy sky on Thursday night, but it will be mostly clear on Friday and Saturday nights.
