GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Honoring the legacy of their longtime President and CEO, the Packers and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announced at Lambeau Field on Tuesday that the team donated $250,000 to establish the Mark Murphy Director of Athletics position for the Phoenix.
The donation comes as Murphy approaches his retirement in July after holding his title for 17 years.

It's also the beginning of a fundraising campaign that seeks to raise $1 million to help Phoenix student-athletes with their courses, athletic achievements and impact on the community.
The gift, according to the release intertwines two major parts of Murphy's work, as he was the Athletic Director at Colgate University from 1992-2003 and at Northwestern University from 2003-2007 before joining the Packers.
Murphy has been a huge supporter of the Phoenix and UW-Green Bay during his time with the Packers, as he's served on the Council of Trustees and worked with fundraising and other activities that helped the University.
"Having a strong Division I athletics program means a lot to this community," Murphy said. "I think this will be a big benefit long-term to the University, particularly to the athletic program."
