RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– At the State house it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the state Christmas tree arrived and leaders say it will shine brighter than ever before. According to members of the Columbia Garden Club, the 35-foot tall Norway Spruce is from “Henderson Tree Farms” in Morganton, North Carolina, an area that was heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene. This year the tree will have new decorations totaling over 13,000 new LED lights and 900 new silver and gold ornaments. And though the temperature may be in the 70’s at the moment Charlene Slaughter with Experience Columbia SC says the tree’s arrival helps jumpstart the Christmas season. The tree will remain dark until the 58th annual Governor’s Carolighting on November 24, at 6 p.m. Categories: Local News, Richland Tags: SC State House
