East Austin homicide victim identified as 33yearold man; no arrests made

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department on Tuesday identified the victim of the city's 57th homicide of the year as a 33-year-old man.

The man was shot and killed last Thursday evening, according to police. It happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the 6400 block of the East U.S. 290 service road.
APD identified the man as Shelby Wayne Cody. Police have not yet made any arrests or identified a suspect in the shooting.
APD responded to multiple 911 calls in the area reporting that someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Cody with gunshot wounds.
Officers provided life-saving measures until Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene. Cody was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m., according to APD.

APD said Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists investigated and found that Cody had "arrived for an appointment" at the location and was shot by the suspect, who fled the area. Police did not provide details about the appointment or give any other information on the suspect.
