Say 'Thanksgiving' and it conjures images of a huge turkey dinner with all the fixings. But who wants to slave away in the kitchen all day? Turns out, you don't have to.
Nadine Madera, director of restaurants at Sheraton Waikiki, said they're planning something special at the Edge of Waikiki.

"We are doing a buffet dinner featuring Thanksgiving favorites. We are also featuring Thanksgiving-themed cocktails, such as our Nice Spice Mule," Madera said.
According to Sheraton Waikiki Executive Chef Matthew Naula, in addition to three carving stations and the holiday favorites, the buffet will have loads of seafood, poke, sushi and a big selection of desserts.
"It's going to be a very big buffet," Naula explained.
Reservations are required, seating is between 5:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
Another option is Merriman's Honolulu. They are offering a special Thanksgiving three-course menu, that night only, with a selection of specialty dishes to choose from. Reservations are suggested.
If you prefer to eat at home, the chefs at Deck are offering a Thanksgiving Dinner Package for pick up with turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry, dessert and your choice of three side dishes. You can even add on a four-pound roasted prime rib and a whole basque cheesecake.
Zippy's also has its annual whole and half turkey meal packages to order according to Kevin Yim, Zippy's vice president of marketing.
"There are a couple locations that are sold out of all of our turkey packages. We do tend to sell out every single year. The earlier you order, the cheaper it is. So the next price increase comes on November 22. So really get your orders in before then," Yim explained. "We also offer pumpkin pie to add on to the package if you want. We also offer maki sushi. Only in Hawaii, you can get maki sushi with your Thanksgiving package."
Whether you want to enjoy the holiday by dining out or plan to order a heat-and-serve meal to go, make sure to call and book it as soon as possible to ensure you get your first pick. The preorder deadline for meals and holiday pies is Monday, Nov. 18.
