City of Sheboygan investigating "unauthorized access" to network by an external party

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) - Officials in Sheboygan say they are investigating a situation in which an external party had gained unauthorized access to the city's network causing a number of reported issues.
According to a release from the City of Sheboygan, as of Sunday, November 10, the city has secured its network and officials are currently working with experts to conduct a thorough forensic review of the situation.

Officials say that there has not been any evidence found to suggest that any sensitive personal information was compromised but the city has received a request for payment of a ransom.
The city states that they are cooperating fully with all law enforcement involved with the situation and an investigation into what happened is currently ongoing.
