ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) - Local officials want to make sure that those who live near Lambeau Field are ready for the NFL draft next April. Ashwaubenon village officials hosted an NFL draft informational meeting on Monday night. It was very well attended and also included a Packers official. "People from this area we want to showcase it (NE Wisconsin), we want the world to see how wonderful we have it," said Joel Gregozeski who was the main presenter on Monday night at the meeting. "I think we're going to be just as welcoming as Detroit and people are going to have a great experience."  Gregozeski highlighted his experience at the NFL draft in Detroit in the spring to give attendees an idea of what to expect when it comes to Green Bay in April. Our Lady of Lourdes honors veterans with military display and special blessings He said that it will be disruptive for people who live in the neighborhoods surrounding Lambeau Field. Authorities will close Lombardi Avenue, Oneida Street near the stadium, and Armed Forces Drive at various times before, during, and/or after the NFL draft dates. The main stage for the NFL draft will likely be in the Lambeau Field parking lot near the corner of Lombardi Avenue and Oneida Street. Local officials expect 250,000 people to attend the NFL draft across its three days. However, the NFL draft in Detroit last spring drew about 775,000 people so there's a chance that Green Bay's attendance could actually be much higher. Local 5 News’ 2024 Salute to Veterans Special Officials say that residents should expect things to be busy throughout the duration of the three days. They advise residents to make a plan in terms of how they're going to navigate the crowds and the extra traffic as they go about their normal chores and everyday activities. "This is a much more prolonged event each day (than a Packers game) and it's three successive days," said Gregozeski. "They need to be prepared and that those three days are going to be disruptive to their normal everyday lives." Gregozeski reminded residents that if they plan on renting out their homes for the NFL draft, they must properly license their property with the village even if they're only renting for one night. Mason Street Bridge in Green Bay to close Wednesday for maintenance Gregozeski also said that there will likely be a large number of contractors, NFL personnel, and media arriving in town weeks before the draft begins to set up (it'll take about four weeks to set up the main stage). He said residents should expect things to be busy in the weeks leading up to and after the draft. A Packers official said they do have contingency plans for snow and part of their bid to host the draft included a well thought out plan in case of inclement weather. The NFL draft is April 24-26.
