MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman is warning people to be careful about shopping for vehicles on social media after her 2019 Nissan Maxima was sold on Facebook Marketplace a day after it was stolen from her East Memphis driveway.
The victim, who did not want to be identified, said the car thieves spent at least 30 minutes at her home in the Colonial Acres neighborhood and managed to remove a club and air tag from her car.

"The scariest part to me was how long they spent outside my home, knowing they were all armed. You can see that in the video," she said. "They got the club out and threw it in the street."

Surveillance video showed several masked males arriving in a black vehicle. At one point, you can see three people outside the victim's car after they drove it into the middle of the street.
The owner said it was the third time the Maxima had been stolen in the Memphis area over the last two years. The other times, the vehicle was recovered in Memphis, but this time, the car was discovered parked behind a home in Senatobia, Mississippi.

Senatobia Police said the man told them he bought the car on Facebook Marketplace. Detectives told her the man had a bill of sale, a working key fob, and what he thought was the vehicle's title.
"The guy who supposedly bought it was supposedly upset and, you know, made it look believable that he bought it," she said.
She said the man in Senatobia told officers he paid $6,500 for the car, about a quarter of its worth. She said the extremely low price should have raised a huge red flag that the vehicle was stolen.
"If it looks too good to be true, it probably is," she said.
