Man dies in Madera County crash after medical emergency

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A driver crashed through a pasture northeast of Millerton Lake Saturday evening and died at the scene, the California Highway Patrol Madera area announced.
According to the California Highway Patrol, on Sunday around 5 p.m., they responded to Road 211 near Rolling Oaks Drive in Madera County for a reported collision.
CHP says a 74-year-old man from Friant was driving northbound on Road 211, north of Rolling Oaks Drive traveling at a slow speed and drifting toward the east shoulder.
Investigators report driver left the roadway and drove through a fence before coming to rest in an open pasture.
Officers say medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead. He was wearing a seatbelt and had no visible injuries. Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to be a factor.
Investigators say while the crash is under investigation, it is believed the driver possibly suffered from a medical emergency prior to the collision.
